Video Webhooks

New

ImageKit's Video Webhooks are live, which can help you stay on top of your video transformation requests for better development and user experience.

Video Webhooks trigger notifications to your servers from when a transformation is initiated to when it is completed. These notifications help you set up an end-to-end video encoding pipeline and track the status of your video transformations.

Read more about Video Webhooks here.

Conditional Transformations are live!

New

Your business might be receiving hundreds of images with different characteristics (height, width, aspect ratio, etc.) from various sources every day. These could be from your users, photographers, stock photography websites, graphics team, and other sources. And these images must fit into the set dimensions available on your platform (website, apps, etc.).

This makes standard transformations unsuitable for the varied images received. Conditional Transformations allow you to specify conditions based on the input image's properties and the transformation to be done if a condition is met or not, directly in the image URL.

A standard transformation URL looks something like: [https://ik.imagekit.io/demo/tr:w-300,h-300/default-image.jpg ]

However, when you use Conditional Transformation, your URL will look like: [https://ik.imagekit.io/demo/tr:if-ar_gt_1,w-200,if-else,w-300,if-end/default-image.jpg ]

You can read more about this feature here.

In that direction, **ImageKit is now ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified. **

Compliance with such a global standard aligns with our platform's commitment to better data privacy, information security, and reliability.

And we are just getting started. Stay tuned for more updates on security and data privacy in the coming months!

Single Sign-On

New

We are taking our authentication process to the next level with Single Sign-On. This will allows users to log in to ImageKit with a single unique ID provided through a trusted Identity Provider (IdP).

This will allow you to have a centralised control of user management. You can manage users in your organisation and assign ImageKit roles from central Identity Provider (IdP) platform.

Note: This feature is available to paid users.

You can know more about this feature here.

URL-Rewriters

New

Migrating from one service to another involves work. ImageKit wants to make this migration process as minimal effort as possible.

We have introduced URL rewriters which translate your pre-existing transformation parameters written in the syntax of your previous service provider to ImageKit's syntax. This will allow you to continue using your existing URLs with no changes when moving to ImageKit.

Note: Currently we support rewriting URLs from Cloudinary's parameters to ImageKit's transformation parameters. More to come!

Zip Zap Zoom those heavy files!

New

Zip files are a wonder of the tech world. Simple yet so powerful. With ImageKit you can now create zip files to compress multiple files into a single folder. Read on to find out more.

How?

You can create a zip file by simply selecting a few files and folders. Right-click on the selection and select “Download (as Zip)”

Zip.png

Can the downloads be tracked?

Yes! We help you keep a track of all the download requests. Simply click on the ‘Downloads’ option in the bottom right corner of the Media Library window. You can sort this list by time, name, etc.

What else can you do?

You can apply a common image transformation to all image files. This will help you save time by letting you create a particular dimension variant of all images inside the folder.

You can apply this feature by clicking on the ‘Apply Transformations’ toggle button and selecting the desired dimensions.

Make the most of this feature now!

Secure your ImageKit account with Multi-factor authentication

New

You must be using ImageKit on your live websites and apps. Multiple users might access the ImageKit dashboard, the central place for all your media uploads, external origin configurations, delivery settings, and more. Keeping the dashboard secure therefore is of utmost importance.

While having a strong password helps secure access to the dashboard, we have now added multi-factor authentication to ImageKit.

How to enable MFA?

  1. If you have Administrator privileges on your ImageKit account, you can enforce MFA for all the users in your account from the User Management page.

  2. Every user can enable MFA for their account from their User Profile page.

How does MFA in ImageKit work?

Once MFA is enabled for your account, either by the account administrator or on your own, ImageKit would send a unique code to the email ID associated with your account after you enter the correct login password.

You will need to provide this unique code in the form that comes up on the next screen to access the dashboard.

We have added a ton of updates and improved the performance of our Video API to help you deliver perfect video experiences on websites and mobile devices.

1. Resize and crop videos in real-time

With this update, you can now resize and crop your videos to the exact size that you want in real-time. You don't need a fancy video player for this. Just add the corresponding parameters to your video URL and tailor your videos to every device, layout, or social media.

Want a video resized for mobile?

2. Extensive overlay capabilities to personalize videos at scale

From adding your brand watermark to your videos to overlaying text or subtitles to creating a picture-in-picture video, we have covered it all. The reworked overlay transformations offer a broader range of capabilities for customizing and personalizing your videos at scale without needing a dedicated video player.

3. Adaptive Bitrate Streaming has never been easier

You can now deliver Youtube or Vimeo-like streaming experiences that adapt to your user's network and device capabilities in no time. No need to set up extensive pipelines or webhooks and wait for several minutes to stream your videos.

Using ImageKit's URL-based ABS implementation, you can now generate the required manifest files for both DASH and HLS streaming protocols with different resolutions in near real-time. We take care of generating and delivering the video fragments for you.

Here is how you will generate an HLS manifest file with 360p and 480p video resolutions with ImageKit.

https://ik.imagekit.io/demo/sample-video.mp4/ik-master.m3u8?tr=sr-360_480

And, you can combine other transformations like overlays to generate video fragments in line with your brand requirements.

You can now convert GIFs to MP4 videos and use them with video tags to get a significantly smaller file that helps improve page load time and user experience.

Elevate how you manage digital assets with a major dashboard revamp and feature updates

Improvement

We listened to your feedback and built the entire user dashboard from scratch to simplify using ImageKit to manage and optimize images and videos.

1. Media Library reimagined for better collaboration and management

The entire interface for the media library has been re-worked. Features such as copy, move, tag, edit, etc., are now easily accessible on the listing page itself. Additionally, you now have a dedicated asset detail page with all the information and tools you need to work on that particular asset.

Teams can also comment on assets enabling better collaboration within the ImageKit media library.

2. AI-powered tagging and Custom Metadata for better asset organization

Both of these features, which were earlier available using APIs, are now available via the Media Library UI, as well, making it easier to organize your assets and build your own taxonomy for doing the same.

Automatically tagging images via Google CloudVision and AWS Rekognition is as simple as making a few clicks.

You can also define custom metadata fields in the dashboard as per your business' asset organization requirements. These fields are then available against every asset, and you can provide their values on the asset detail pages.

To take full advantage of these two asset management features, the dashboard's search functionality has been enhanced to search based on AI-based tags and custom metadata fields.

3. Automatic background removal to speed up image editing

It is important for any company that sells products on its websites to present a consistent visual experience to your users - high-quality images, cropped in the same way, with the same background color.

Up until now, graphic designers have performed these tasks manually. But now, your team can remove the background of an image with just one click within the media library. You can then combine this with ImageKit's background color transformation parameter to deliver images with a consistent background color.

We have made several other small changes to make your overall experience of using the dashboard better. You can now search URL endpoints and external storage. This is super useful if you manage a large set of endpoints and origins. Analytics and product settings have been divided into separate sections to make it easy to find the right thing you are looking for.

Stay tuned for more updates to the dashboard :)
