Improvement
We listened to your feedback and built the entire user dashboard from scratch to simplify using ImageKit to manage and optimize images and videos.
1. Media Library reimagined for better collaboration and management
The entire interface for the media library has been re-worked. Features such as copy, move, tag, edit, etc., are now easily accessible on the listing page itself. Additionally, you now have a dedicated asset detail page with all the information and tools you need to work on that particular asset.
Teams can also comment on assets enabling better collaboration within the ImageKit media library.
2. AI-powered tagging and Custom Metadata for better asset organization
Both of these features, which were earlier available using APIs, are now available via the Media Library UI, as well, making it easier to organize your assets and build your own taxonomy for doing the same.
Automatically tagging images via Google CloudVision and AWS Rekognition is as simple as making a few clicks.
You can also define custom metadata fields in the dashboard as per your business' asset organization requirements. These fields are then available against every asset, and you can provide their values on the asset detail pages.
To take full advantage of these two asset management features, the dashboard's search functionality has been enhanced to search based on AI-based tags and custom metadata fields.
3. Automatic background removal to speed up image editing
It is important for any company that sells products on its websites to present a consistent visual experience to your users - high-quality images, cropped in the same way, with the same background color.
Up until now, graphic designers have performed these tasks manually. But now, your team can remove the background of an image with just one click within the media library. You can then combine this with ImageKit's background color transformation parameter to deliver images with a consistent background color.
We have made several other small changes to make your overall experience of using the dashboard better. You can now search URL endpoints and external storage. This is super useful if you manage a large set of endpoints and origins. Analytics and product settings have been divided into separate sections to make it easy to find the right thing you are looking for.
Stay tuned for more updates to the dashboard :)
